Passing of Former Mayor Fred Held

 

FRED HELD SCAN  Fred G. Held, former Mayor of South Pasadena, passed away on June 19, 2015 at the age of 88. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he and his wife Alma relocated to Florida in 1977. He was an active participant in South Pasadena local politics, serving 9 years as a City Commissioner and 9 years as Mayor from 1981 to 2003. After his last term as Mayor, Held continued to remain active in local civic groups including the South Pasadena Civic Association, the Elks, and the Lions Club. In appreciation for his dedicated service and valuable contributions to the City of South Pasadena throughout the years, a park was named in his honor in 2004. Held is survived by his wife Alma and her children Theresa, Wayne, and Edward. 

A "Celebration of Life" service is scheduled for Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 12 PM noon at the Memorial Park Funeral Home (5750 49th Street North, St. Petersburg, FL).
